Human Rights Policy

Our Principles

  • Engagement with the Community and Stakeholders

We recognize that we are part of the community where we operate. We are directly involved in human rights issues that matter, such as keeping areas clean, tidy, and organized. We recycle in collaboration with the Tibás Municipality project, which collects recycling on the first and third Thursday of each month. We support school activities and community cheerleading teams. We are aware that local challenges are resolved through good communication and mutual support.

  • Diversity and Inclusion

We value diversity and strive to promote inclusion among the people we work with. We are committed to equal employment opportunities and do not tolerate discrimination or harassment. We endeavor to maintain workplaces free from discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, color, national or social origin, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, political opinion, or any other condition protected by law. The criteria for selection, hiring, placement, development, remuneration, and promotion within the company are based on qualifications, performance, skills, and experience.

We do not tolerate disrespectful or inappropriate behavior, unfair treatment, or any form of retaliation. Harassment is not tolerated in the workplace or in any work-related situation, either on or off-site.

  • Freedom of Association and the Right to Collective Bargaining

The company is committed to negotiating in good faith with employees who disagree with opinions or decisions made by the management team, reaching amicable agreements for the common good.

  • Workplace Health and Safety

The safety and health of our employees are of paramount importance. Our priority is to provide a safe and healthy workplace while complying with applicable health and safety laws and standards, as well as internal requirements. We work to provide and maintain a safe, healthy, and productive workplace in collaboration with our employees, addressing and mitigating risks of accidents, injuries, and health impacts.

We prioritize the physical and mental well-being of our employees over any economic or operational considerations. We promote a culture of prevention and self-care that encourages healthy lifestyles and fosters favorable organizational environments by identifying, analyzing, and preventing psychosocial risk factors.

We are committed to communicating the importance of using occupational health equipment for tasks involving risk, ensuring timely payment of insurance policies, and offering medical care plans to employees through MEDISMART.

  • Workplace Security

We are committed to maintaining a workplace free of violence, harassment, intimidation, and other unsafe or alarming conditions arising from internal or external threats. We provide protection to our employees while respecting their privacy and dignity.

  • Forced Labor and Human Trafficking

We prohibit all forms of forced labor, including debt bondage, modern slavery, and any form of human trafficking. We forbid any employment relationship that is not agreed upon voluntarily and reject all forms of unpaid labor as a condition for employment.

  • Child Labor

We prohibit the hiring of individuals under 15 years of age for any position. Furthermore, if adolescent labor (ages 15-18) is required, measures will be taken to ensure their rights are protected and that they do not perform hazardous work.

  • Working Hours, Wages, and Benefits

We compensate our employees competitively based on the sector and the local labor market. We strive to fully comply with laws related to wages, working hours, overtime, and benefits.

  • Land and Water Resource Rights

We recognize the human rights implications of land and water use in our value chain, which we address through specific policies and actions.

We respect the human need for sustainable water resources, potable water, and the protection of ecosystems and communities through the rational use of this resource.

  • Healthy Lifestyles

We are committed to providing healthy food and beverages at our activities and events for the well-being of our employees. We also promote health, recreation, and leisure activities for our employees and their families.

  • Sports and Physical Activity

We support sports and physical activities to keep our staff active, aiming to promote health in all aspects and prevent diseases caused by lack of exercise.

Additionally, we promote sponsorship of external teams, including client teams, subject to prior evaluation.

  • Employee Guidance and Notifications

We strive to create workplaces where open and honest communication among employees is valued and respected. The company is committed to complying with applicable labor laws and dignified employment practices. We also ensure that employees are aware of the human rights policy through a communication and training process.

Any employee who believes there is a conflict between the policy and workplace laws, customs, or practices, has questions about the policy, or wants to confidentially report a potential policy violation should raise such questions and concerns with the Human Resources Department.

Additionally, we respect the privacy (anonymity) of complaints and/or suggestions from external clients and employees. For this purpose, a suggestion box will be installed to safeguard the information, which will be thoroughly analyzed for prompt resolution.
